How to: Burn Bowl & Spoon

Create a bowl and spoon from a block of wood. Actually, a "spork" is more useful.

Points to Remeber

  • Can use dry or green wood
  • Burn out hollow area with coals from a fire
  • Burn across the grain

    NOTE:If cracks occur use thin wood chips or splints to wedge into crack then sand or burnish smooth.

    WARNING: Be sure the wood you intend to use is not a poisonous species like yew, cascara, or some types of locus. "Pitchy" species like pine can also make your food or water taste funny.
